I am so thankful, with every believer in Christ, that our so great salvation is not an outward act, though based, founded on the foundation of Christ’s Person and the work that He Himself finished, and is completely and entirely outside of ourselves. This is why He, and what He finished for you and I NEVER FAILS. 1 Cor. 13:8.
Our salvation, our Christ, is not only deliverance by His mighty power, but is a personal and inward work, “through a washing and renewing of the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5.
There is a total change of position IN CHRIST, a new place which Is given, by His pure grace alone, as well as another state subjectively-inwardly. This is expressed by the washing and renewing of, and only of, the Holy Spirit, in Titus 3:5.
Old things ARE passed away in Christ, ALL things ARE become new IN HIM. (See 2 Cor. 5:16-17; 1 Cor. 2:9-16; Rev. 21:5).
As a man I WAS in Adam. (See 1 Cor. 15:45-49). Faith (absolute dependence on Christ’s Person and finished work, Jn. 19:30) is now entitled to know and experience that we (all in Christ) stand in Christ by God’s mercy, and ALTOGETHER INDEPENDENTLY of what we did ourselves. (See Rom. 5:1-2; Eph. 6:10-18).
Thus the evil (Ps. 51:4) IS GONE before God and for the conscience. (Heb. 10:1-2-14); for Christ IS RISEN (Mt. 28:1-6) and us IN HIM (EPH. 2:1-6; 1:1-23), the full and complete expression of the state-the present and eternal condition-INTO which the Christian is brought by grace. (Eph. 2:8-10).
