They Looked Unto Him

Psa. 34:5 “They looked unto Him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.” They looked to Him for whatever their need was, however long they were away from Him, and when they did, they began to sparkle. The light and heat and energy of His love was like a sparkling river running through them. Then they began to flow together with His loving thoughts about themselves.

Now, they weren't ashamed, they were no longer confused or confounded. The blush that was on their faces because of sin, failure, and weakness was replaced by a cheerful light that spoke to them of what His love for them had accomplished.

They began to be cheerful inwardly, and it began to be poured out in praise and thankfulness. Others saw and heard them and were drawn to the cheerful sparkle on their faces. Yes, they were looking away from their sin, failure, weakness, and wasted years. His love for them brought them to the place of self-helplessness and self-hopelessness to Himself.

As they looked away from all the distractions and began looking unto Jesus, they no longer carried in themselves the weight of their burdens. We should wait and trust His working for ourselves and others. Many are on their way back to Him. Some know it, others don't yet, but He does.

Look away from all that would distract you and have eyes only for Jesus, and you will begin to sparkle (Heb. 12:1-2).
