Renewed | Pt. 1

Colossians 3:10, “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Him that created him.”

Here is the word renewed (anakainoo), and this word speaks to us about the fact of who we are in Christ in contrast to the old unregenerate nature. That old unregenerate nature, that in Ephesians 2:1-3, when we were spiritually dead in trespasses and sins; wherein that past, in that old unregenerate nature, our thoughts, emotions, our very lives were governed by satan, the prince of the power of the air. The enemy of God and those that God loves, us.

Now, instead of the enemies' lies, imaginations, projections, and fears, we have the necessity and privilege to constantly be renewed unto the true knowledge, the truth of how God Himself knows and sees us in His Son. Without continually being renewed, through the right teaching of the Word, our only other option is the lies of the enemy wrapped up in heretical teachings.

In Ephesians 4:23, the word renewed here is ananeoo, from ana, and neos, "new". This word speaks of youthful persons, they are "fresh", as they continue to breathe in the clean air of the reality of who they are in Christ, as opposed to the pollution of the lies and imaginations of the prince of the power of the air.

Yes, we are the regenerate ones (Titus 3:5), we are the "new man" in Ephesians 2:15. "New" (kainos) in differing in CHARACTER, who we are in fact, and reality in Christ (1 Jhn. 1:7). (Please see this reality in Ephesians 4:20-24).

And so, in Colossians 3:10, "new" there (neos) stresses the FACT of our "new" experience, recently begun, and still proceeding. Our experiences are right and freeing as we are taught the facts and reality of the TRUE knowledge of who we are in our TRUE character in Christ.

The old man, in Rom. 8:9, dates as far back as Adam; a "new man" has been born, and us in Christ are therefore fitly so called, because all of the necessary qualifications were met in and by Christ, He is our true and only qualification (1 Jhn. 5:20-21).

So keep on being renewed into the freedom and reality of who you are in Christ (Galatians 5:1), instead of being held captive in the bondage and prison of the father of all lies. (2 Tim. 2:24-26; Jhn. 8:44).
