Real Strength

In 2Cor.12:7 Paul was given a thorn IN THE FLESH, so that he, as the former Pharisee, would not use the revelation of the Person and work that Christ alone finished, to exalt himself by means of his fallen, ruined, fleshly nature. (See Rom.8:9).

“My strength,” in 2Cor.12:9, is not made perfect (complete, finished) with those who think they are strong apart from Christ alone. We, us in Christ, must be brought down to nothing in ourselves as to strength, in order to know, to experience, where real strength is located. (See Joel 3:10; Ps.68:28; Eph.1:1-23; Jn.3:27,30; Phil.4:13,19; Jn.15:1-5).

That is what people, what we in Christ are slow to learn. Paul wanted to get rid of the thorn, but The Lord says, no, I must have you incapacitated: then it is My work and power, and not yours. (See Ps.102:23; 1Cor.1:24; Phil.2:12-13).

This all has to do with God’s anticipative love and His prevenient grace.
