Proverbs 3:5-8

Trust in Yahweh with your whole heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make plain your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; Reverence Yahweh, and depart from evil. Health will then come to your navel, and refreshing to your bones.

From God alone comes true prosperity and true help. He knows the right way to the right ends. He knows what benefits us. He is able to free us from everything that could hurt us.

So it is our loving privilege and our complete safety to place our confidence wholly in Him, and to not trust our own judgment. To trust Him, in the Hebrew, means to lean with the whole body on something, in order to rest upon it. It means to lean on anything, so as to be supported by it.

To acknowledge Him never only means to have theoretic acknowledgement---never means only teaching that is separated from the person of God, through Christ Jesus, by the power of Holy Spirit. But it engages the whole man—spirit, soul and body. (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

The heart is the central seat of all spiritual-soul strength. To love God with the whole heart is to concentrate the whole inner life on the active contemplation of God, and the ready of observance of His will. God rewards us when we draw near to Him, by making plain our path before us. He does this by leading us directly to the right end, removing all hindrances out of our way.

Isaiah 43:16, “Thus saith the Lord, which makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; Which brings forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they will lie down together, they will not rise: They are extinct, they are quenched as tow.”

What is our sea, mighty waters, the army that seeks to come against us? Romans 8:31-39; Philippians 4:13, 19.
