The Greek word “remission” in our precious Bible, speaks of forgiveness; pardon; that is, the giving up of the punishment due to a crime, as the “remission” of sins. (See this word used in Mt. 26:28; Heb. 9:22; Mk. 1:4; Lk. 1:77; 3:3; 24:47; Acts 3:38; 10:43; Heb. 10:18).
It is the Greek word “aphesis”, from aphiemi, which means freedom; fig., pardon. It speaks of deliverance, liberty, and forgiveness. In the type, in Lev. 16:5-10, the teaching there is "to send away alive, to let them go."
This word “aphesis” denotes a release from bondage, imprisonment, liberation from captivity, and “remission” of debt. As a noun, “aphesis” denotes "a release from bondage and imprisonment, especially the imprisonment of fear.
In Lk. 4:18, it is used of “liberation” from captivity, and also used in 2 Tim. 2:24-26. There is no fear in the forgiveness of Christ's love that is SO for us, because as He is in His love for us, SO are we IN HIM.
God may, in His love for us, chastise us, but He does NOT treat us, or view us after the sins, because He sees us IN CHRIST (Pr. 3:11-12; Heb. 12:5-1; Rom. 8:14-17; Gal. 4:4-7).
Thank God for 1 Jhn. 1:9, and 2 Cor. 7:10, which both scriptures are for us His church, His body, His bride.
