Mary Waits

Martha runs; Mary waits. Martha, on hearing of Jesus' presence coming, runs to meet Him. Mary sits in silence, alone, in the house.

The death of their brother Lazarus has affected both of their lives in relationship to their brother, but most importantly, their relationship to their Lord. They both knew Him in affectionate love, Martha (mistress) serving Him, sometimes in rest, and other times in irritation. Mary (exalted one) anointing Jesus feet in anticipation of His impending death, another time sitting at His feet receiving.

What had affected them both was not just the death of their loved one, which is very deep in itself, but WHY did Jesus allow it?

God has, for a while now, been saying to me personally, that He understands my questioning Him at times. He is okay with that, but He is never okay with me doubting Him, doubting His glorious, majestic, deep, and overwhelming love for me.

He never separates the depth of His love for you and me from the depth of His wisdom. Yes, He knows Himself, He knows what He is doing, it is His plan for you and me, and it won't fail because it can't, because He who is love, for you and I, NEVER fails.

He is now, resurrection life, even when we see things that happen to us through a glass darkly. But when we see Him face to face, He will be the answer to every single question we ever had. There will be no doubt there, in the light of the love of His face for you and me for all of eternity.

We will fellowship with Him in the individuality of intimacy with the new name that He gives us. A name that speaks of how He was with us, in us through everything that ever happened to us.

Again, no wonder that we will all, personally and individually, sing our own version to Him around His throne, Worthy is The Lamb.
