God Provides for Himself and Us

In Genesis 22:8, Abraham said to his son Isaac, God will provide Himself a Lamb for a burnt offering.

We, as those in Christ, can glean so many truths in the types of the Old Testament. Abraham did not have to give up his promised son to be the sin sacrifice for sin.

What must it have been like for God the Father, in love for all of humanity, to have to give up His Son, to have to turn His back on the One in whom He was so well-pleased; all because He was loaded with our sins? And what must it have been for the Son to have His Father turn away from Him, the pure Son of God, loaded with sin?

Of course, we know that the justice and integrity of God had to be propitiated, first and foremost. Then we can see the result of the Father and Son's love for us brought out in Genesis 24. We see in 24:36, that the Father had given the Son everything that He had. The servant was to get the son a wife of the same kindred. The wife Rebekah was a virgin in verse 43.

In 2 Cor. 5:21, God the Father gave up His Son to be the sin-Sacrifice for us, who knew no sin, that you and I, in His Son, might be made the very righteousness of God. As a result, by the pure grace of God and love without any conditions, we are the Son's virgin. We are all fair, beautiful, and lovely in the Father and Son's sight, without even the slightest spot or stain. Song of Sol. 4:7. Now our position is seated with Him in the heavenlies in Ephesians 2:6.

Now our view, our sight of ourselves and each other, is to look from the top, in S.S. 4:8. And do you know what we see? We see what the Father and the Son see, “I am my beloved's, and His desire is toward me” S.S. 7:10. Yes, you and I are the Lamb's bride (Rev. 19:7, 11).

Yes, you and I are the ones that are the adorned bride for our Husband Christ (Rev. 21:2) and in the type in Gen. 24:47. No wonder it says in Eph. 3:19, that it is a love that passes ever coming to the end of knowing and experiencing it, for us, the Church, Christ's bride, without end (3:21).
