Mk. 7:22, "And when He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man unto Him, they implored Him to touch him. 23 And He took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when He had spit on his eyes, and put His hands upon him, He asked him if he saw anything. 24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees walking. 25 After that He put His hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly."
(Please read 2 Cor. 4:1-5, it will help us to have a better understanding of what Jesus was doing in Mk. 7:23-25).
Jn.12:21, "The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him saying, Sir, we would see Jesus."
Mt. 15:14, "Let them alone: they are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into the ditch."
Ps. 40:1, "I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up out of an horrible pit (Heb. a pit of noise and confusion), out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock (a solid foundation, Mt.16:18;1Cor.3:10-11) and established my goings." (See Is. 33:6, with 2 Cor. 4:7 and Mt. 6:21).
Thankful for our precious Savior Jesus Christ, who is the very Word Himself of God. (Jn. 1:1-2) He only, by His power (1 Cor. 1:24; 4:20; 2 Tim. 1:7), and by the power and leading of the Holy Spirit (Jn. 16:13-14), is the only sufficient guard against the rationalist dreams old or new, and the still more prevalent misapplication of tradition (Mk.7:13), even when comparatively orthodox.
We need a continual touch of the sacred text, Jesus, the Word Himself, to see Him first, and seeing Him, a continual touch to see how he sees others.
