In Phil. 4:11 the word "content" in the Greek is "autarkes”, from “autos” and “arkeothe”
Autos:
breathe
air
atmosphere
a baffling wind
Arkeothe:
the idea of raising a barrier
to ward off, i.e. (by implication)
to avail (figuratively, be satisfactory), sufficient
Arkeo as a verb primarily signifies
to be sufficient
to be possessed of sufficient strength
to be strong
to be enough for a thing; hence, to defend, ward off
In the middle voice, to be satisfied, content with. (Lk. 3:14; 1 Tim. 6:8; Heb. 13:5).
In Phil. 3:3, it means "adequate ", "needing no assistance" from the flesh, not needing others' praise, and so, content.
To be content is the reality that God is able, He is our only ability. Being content with quiet service, and seeking communion and constancy with Christ in His Word, the Lord will bless us in all things. He will because He is Himself what is only good.
Our part, our place, is to be very near Him, and that keeps us in a humble mind in the light as He is in it--all else is judged and done away with (1 Jhn.1:7).
