The strait, the narrow gate, we are to enter, because broad and wide the gate that leads to destruction. Unfortunately, the majority go through that way. The narrow way is Christ only and very few are found in Him (Mt. 7:13-14).
Very few find themselves positioned in Him through salvation and yet even fewer that are positioned in Him, find Him experientially in themselves.
Jesus said, in Mt. 18:20, For where two or three are gathered IN MY NAME, there am I IN their midst.
In Rev.1:11-13, Jesus said, “I AM Alpha and Omega, the first and the last:” (1:12) John turned to see the voice (the same voice in Gen. 3:8) that spoke to him. (1:13) in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks (Christ's church reflecting the gold of His nature, 2 Cor 4:7) was Christ Himself in all of His glory.
Yet with that glorious manifestation of His nature, Jesus could only say to the church (ekklesia, called out and assembled ones) of Philadelphia, that He Himself would be the open door that none could shut. Yet they only had a little strength, they kept (guarded, treasured up) His Word and did not deny His name.
They didn't have a particular "named" local assembly, they were just those two or more gathered around Christ alone, with Him in them and manifesting Himself to them.
