Genesis 3:8, The voice of God, Christ pre-incarnate, the very Word of God, as revealed in Jhn 1:1 in the eternity of who He Is, revealed to them how one day He would come and crush the enemy (Gen.3:15).
The promise He declared there was what only He could and would fulfill. But it would be in God's time, four thousand years later.
God made a promise to Abraham and Sarah, declaring the truth and reality of it during their old age, in their utter helplessness. Sarah laughed in doubt and despair when God told her she would have her promised child (Gen. 18:12). Thirty years later, in Gen. 21:6, she was laughing a different laugh. It was the laugh that God had made for her, and for us to hear while we wait for Him.
In Gen. 22 God tested Abraham's faith in the very promise that God had fulfilled to him. Do we know why? Because the promise he made to him had to do with God providing for Himself in Gen. 22:8.
The promise that God gave to Jacob, the cunning and deceitful one, and given to his son Judah, was that Shiloh will come and rule and reign over Israel in the close approaching millennial reign.
We could go on and on, in the precious Word of God and find out that God doesn't make promises that He doesn't keep.
You and I may think at times that we are too little, too weak, too insignificant, too young, too old, too much of a failure for God to fulfill, never mind, to even make us a promise.
They all had to wait, just like you and me. He makes us wait to get to know the One who makes us wait because He doesn't just want to give us things, He wants to give us Himself.
We will have all of eternity to sing around His throne the song of the Lamb (Rev. 5:9). Each one of us will be singing our song like only we could sing about our faithful Lamb, who gave us a song in the night of His absence, to sing in the light of Presence.
Can you hear that heavenly choir singing? You and I have a place to sing there that no one but you can sing.
(Job 35:10; Ps. 33:3; 40:3; 42:8; 77:6; 89:1; Acts 16:25; Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16; Rev. 5:9).
2 Cor. 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are yes!
I agree with God that they are settled and done, unto the glory of God.
