Being in Christ

Eph. 1:3

Nothing in Christ Himself was, and is, ever subject to change. So, with us being in Christ, through receiving Him as our Substitute, our Savior, nothing is ever subject to change with us being in Christ.

Christ was on earth, and now in heaven, our example, our pattern (1 Pet. 2:21). His love for His Father, His love for us, was and is an unselfish love, ready, prepared to serve. This love of the Father expressed and manifested in and through His Son, as they are one (Jhn. 10:30), has to do with their own divine will. You can see this truth in Eph. 1:5, 11.

You can hear the depth of Christ's love for His Father, and for us, in what is the true Lord's Prayer in Jhn. 17:1-26. It is His love for us, a love that finished and completed EVERYTHING about us (1 Jhn. 4:18).

It is His foundation, His love for us, that He, through working in us, with that, which He has finished about us, that keeps us from being subverted, in 2 Tim. 2:14. The word "subvert" here is katastrophe, where we get our English word "catastrophe."

Catastrophe means demolition; fig. means apostasy; to overthrow; a turning down. In the Websters 1828 dictionary, "to overthrow from the foundation; to overturn; to ruin utterly." (Please read the whole definition).

Do not let anyone come to you in Christian garb telling you that now that Christ has done so much for you, that now you are to do such and such for Him. These are the words that will cause you to strive in a 'works-system' that will profit you and nothing (2 Tim. 2:14).

Please read 1 Jhn. 4:10,17-18; Acts 13:39-39; and Gal. 1:6-9; 5:1-6, and let's enjoy our freedom in Christ without the license to live in sin, but to serve in love.
