2 Cor. 10:1-6
When the Holy Spirit, speaking in and through Paul (see 1 Thes. 2:13), mentions the word "mighty " in verse 4, the word is “dunata”, “dunamis”, powerful. This is where we get our English word “dynamite.” The Holy Spirit, through Paul, is teaching that when it comes to demolishing prideful reasonings the Word, Christ, God Himself, has explosive and dynamic power (see 1 Cor. 4:20, and read 2 Tim. 1:7).
What is incredible about that word "PROS", is that when it is used in verse 4, pertaining to warfare, it is used in the sense of "fit". In other words, who God is, He Himself, “fits” us with this divine powerful equipment in this spiritual battle. It has NOTHING to do with weak, frail, human vessels (see 2 Cor. 4:7).
The Greek word PROS, its root idea is 'near', 'nearby', or with the notion of 'besides.' Let's look at other places where PROS is used. In Jhn. 1:1, the literal idea comes out well, 'Christ the Word, pre-incarnate, was, (is), face to face with God.' Here it is used of the most intimate, as well as the most personal exchange between the Father and the Son.
So, we see that “PROS” is employed for a living relationship, an intimate converse. PROS is used with words of rest. So, in Jhn. 1:1, and in 2 Cor. 5:8, it is the 'face to face' converse with the Lord.
You can also see the use of PROS in Lk. 18:1, where we should always pray and not faint. It is interesting to see how, in spiritual warfare, how God 'fits' us with the armor that is needed, and that the last thing mentioned is prayer, in Eph. 6:10-18.
In everything we face, we can face it ‘face to face’ with Him in the intimacy of a personal exchange, in a powerful, yet restful relationship. Because, after all, He has said that He would never, no never, no ever leave us or forsake us, any more than He could ever leave or forsake His own Son, IN whom He has eternally placed us (Heb. 13:8; Josh. 1:5).
