2 Tim. 1:8; 4:14-17
When the general condition of things are low, when the majority prove faithless, when old associates are dropping off, it is then that personal grace and true affection—true intimacy with Christ is especially valued. It is then that personal, uninterrupted intimacy, an immovable fellowship with Christ is valued—is when that intimacy, that the individual in Christ alone, with His love, is valued.
The dark background of general declension throws individual intimacy and fellowship—devotedness into beautiful relief—a comfort that only comes in rest in Him, that no one and nothing can replace. 1 Jhn. 1:1-3=4.
